5. Reversible Double-Sided Fabric Cover

A reversible liner is one of the smartest tricks for storage that straddles two rooms or moods. By using two coordinating fabrics, you can flip the liner to match different seasons, swap it between a nursery and a playroom, or change the look of a single basket without buying a new one.

Cut two identical rectangles from your chosen fabrics. Place them right sides together, sew around three sides, turn the piece right side out, and press the edges flat. Tuck the raw edges of the open side inward, then topstitch around the entire perimeter to close the piece and give it a clean finished look. Drop it into your basket and tuck the corners in.

The fun is in the fabric pairing. Try a soft floral on one side and a ticking stripe on the other, or pair a holiday print with a neutral linen. For kids’ rooms, choose two playful prints that share a color. For living rooms, think tone-on-tone: a subtle pattern on one side and a solid on the other.

This is also a great project for using up fabric remnants. Even small pieces work for the inside of smaller baskets, and you can build a small collection of reversible liners over time.
