7. Map Coordinates or Travel Marker

7

For anyone who has moved cities, gotten married somewhere meaningful, or simply loves to travel, a coordinates piece turns a location into wall art. Nail the outline of a state, country, or a simple circle, then wrap the interior and add the latitude and longitude in small painted or vinyl numbers nearby.

Another approach: mark a single point with a small heart or star made of thread, and let the rest of the board stay mostly empty. That negative space makes the piece feel modern and lets the meaning carry the design.

Materials: a wood board, nails, thread in a single bold color, and a printed outline of your chosen map shape. Time: 1 to 2 hours. This makes an especially good anniversary or graduation gift, and it looks sharp in a home office or hallway gallery.
