6. Felt Turkey Headband for the Kids’ Table
If you’ve got little ones at Thanksgiving, headbands are a small touch that makes the day feel extra special. They take almost no time and the kids will wear them long after the pie is gone.
Buy a plain plastic or fabric headband from the dollar store. Cut feather shapes from felt in bright autumn colors, around 3 inches long, and glue three or four together in a fan. Hot-glue the feather fan to one side of the headband. For the turkey face, cut a small brown circle, add googly eyes, an orange beak, and a red wattle, then glue it in front of the feathers.
Time: 20 minutes. Difficulty: easy. If the headband will be worn by a younger child, skip the hot glue and use fabric glue instead, which takes longer to dry but stays cooler. You can also make a softer version using a fabric-covered elastic band, which fits more comfortably on small heads.
