5. Felt Owl Garland
A garland of mini felt owls is one of the most cheerful ways to decorate a child’s bedroom, classroom, or playroom doorway. Cut small owl bodies in assorted colors, layer on tiny bellies in lighter shades, and add a dot of black felt or a small button for each eye. Once the owls are complete, glue or stitch them to a long piece of twine, ribbon, or yarn spaced about three inches apart.
One garland of ten owls takes roughly an hour, though you can shorten the time by simplifying the design or using a glue stick instead of stitching. The project is best done in batches, especially if you want a long strand. Kids can each decorate a single owl, making this a wonderful group activity for playdates, scout meetings, or classroom craft time.
Choose a color palette to match the room where the garland will hang. Soft pastels feel calm and nursery-friendly, jewel tones feel whimsical, and a mix of autumn oranges, browns, and creams gives a seasonal woodland feel.
